March marks the women’s month celebration.

The Gender Advocates and Women in Government Service (GA-WINGS) in region 10 joins the national observance of the women’s month celebration in March with the theme: “Babae: Tagumpay Ka Ng Bayan.”

March 2, will be the opening activity which include: a) motorcade from city hall to Grand Caprice restaurant; b) Holy Mass celebration; and c) program.

\Health forum on cervical cancer, prostate, among others will be on March 10. Then, a barangay forum on protecting the welfare of children on March 17.

March 24 is slated for the launching of Gender and Development (GAD) consumer awareness for safety and healthy lifestyle (CASH).

There will be series of ‘hataw’ on March 11, 18 and 25 at the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) grounds.

Director Alicia Valencia-Euseña, GA-WINGS 10 president, said this year’s theme highlights women’s achievement in paving the way for women’s advancement and empowerment amidst major challenges.

In the Philippines, the Women’s Month Celebration has since served as a venue to highlight women’s achievements and discuss continuing and emerging women’s empowerment and gender equality issues and concerns, challenges, and commitments. The celebration focuses on concrete activities that are aligned with national and international instruments and treaties such as the United Nations (UN) Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), the Beijing Platform for Action, the Millennium Development Goals (2000-2015), the Philippine Plan for Gender-Responsive Development (1995-2025), and the Framework Plan for Women.
